Wedding Show Tips!

Congratulations! You got engaged over the holidays! Now begins the crazy exciting time of planning your wedding! But where to begin?! Lucky for you, the beginning of the year is prime time for wedding shows! Here in Wisconsin, two of the biggest shows are coming up, The Wonderful World of Weddings show in Milwaukee, January 7th and 8th; and the PMI Wedding Show-Winter Edition in Green Bay, January 20th and 21st. Both shows offer a vast amount of vendors so you can get ideas on everything from THE dress to the guest favors, and everything in between. As mentioned, it's an exciting time, but your first wedding show can be overwhelming too. There is just so much information and so many people to talk to. That's why we've compiled a list of helpful tips to make your wedding show experience the best yet!

1. Pre-print labels with your contact and wedding information on them.
A lot of vendors will have drawings you can enters or slips to fill out if you'd like to receive more information from them after the show. Which is great! Until you are at the 8th booth and your hand already feels like it's about to fall off. Trust me, I've been there. You never thought of labels until you saw another bride slap one on a entry form and move on. BRILLIANT! Include whatever information you feel comfortable with, most vendors will like your name, phone number, email address, wedding date, and address. You can also include your fiancé's name if you like. Your hand will thank you!

2. Bring a bag.
Some shows will give you a cute market bag when you enter. But it's a good idea to bring a bag with in case they don't. You'll be getting a lot of information from potential vendors. Plus wedding vendors love giveaways like pens, candy, can coolers, and all sorts of things. You'll want something to carry that all in.

3. Be selective about who you bring.
Bridal shows can get big and crowded, and as much as you want your entire bridal party and close family members with you, choosing just a few people to take along can make the experience more enjoyable. You'll also want to make sure you are bringing people who's opinion you trust and respect. We suggest having you and your fiancé attend the first show together and then bring bridesmaids and mothers to any subsequent shows.

4. Wear comfy shoes.
You will be doing a lot of walking and standing. A lot. So while the temptation might be there to get glammed up and sport your newest pair of heels, your feet will thank you if you go with flats.

5. Don't forget your check book.
If you and your fiancé have already decided on what vendors you'd like to go with, wedding shows can be a great opportunity to save money. Some vendors will offer discounts if you book the day of the show.

6. Bottled Water
You'll want to double check that carry-ins are allowed at the event first. If you can, bring a bottle of water with. Between all the walking and talking, you run the risk of getting parched.

7. Have fun!
This is one of the most exciting times of your life, don't let the stress overshadow it. There is gorgeous photography to see, amazing floral arrangements to smell, and loads of delicious desserts to sample. If you start to feel overwhelmed, or can't stand the thought of trying one more piece of cake, it's time to call it quits for the day. Give yourself a day or two before sorting through all the goodies you received at the show with your fiancé.

We hope these tips help make your wedding show experience an enjoyable one! Already attended some shows? What tips do you have?
