Rice Throwing Tradition

One of the oldest wedding traditions, even dating back to early Roman times, is throwing rice on the newlyweds as they leave the church or celebration.  This custom is said to have originated from the pagan tradition of throwing wedding rice, or grains such as wheat, on a couple to wish them a fruitful and prosperous union.  The grain symbolized the fact that a small seed can grow into something much larger, thereby wishing the couple a lifetime full of good luck, abundance, and fertility.

This tradition has since evolved, and we have seen many couples forgo wedding rice for other fun materials. We love the new ideas that couples have come up with for their wedding send off.  What do you think of these ideas?

Out of Town Groomsmen?

Groomsmen Out of Town? No Problem!

If any of your groomsmen are from out of town, you have nothing to worry about!  As a service based industry, almost all tuxedo stores, bridal stores, and men’s clothiers are accustomed to having men drop in and ask to be fitted. This is a professional courtesy that has been observed by all formalwear associations since formalwear was first rented!

Any out-of-town groomsmen will need to follow these three simple steps to get fitted for their tux:

  1. Get measured at their local tux store.
  2. Submit their measurements to us via phone, e-mail, our websitemailfax, or through anyone in the wedding party.
  3. Pick up their tuxedo up to two days before the wedding!
It doesn’t get any easier than that!  Plus, there is no reason to be nervous about tuxedos not fitting on your wedding day.  With our 24 hour (or less!) turnaround, changes can be made in as little as one hour! We know that people make mistakes, gain weight and lose weight.  At DuBois, if something doesn’t fit, we will get it fixed. Not only that, but with our warehouse located in Green Bay, we can get the right size to you in no time!
