Tuxedo vs. Suit

Tuxedo vs. Suit

Tuxedos and suits have very different functions. While a suit is more a conservative affair and mostly worn to work during the day, a tuxedo is more for semi-formal evening events. On a suit, the lapel will be the same cloth as the rest of the suit, with no embellishments on either the jacket or pants. Tuxedos, on the other hand, tend to have a satin lapel and satin stripes running down the outside legs of the pants.

Both tuxedos and suits are worn for weddings; if you are opting for a more casual event, suits may be the way to go. On the other hand, if you wish to have a more elegant wedding, you may want to go with a traditional tuxedo. Either way, you'll surely look your best!

Customer Review

Check out this photo from customer Jake Borley's wedding. Here's what he had to say about his experience working with DuBois Formalwear:

"DuBois' staff is very knowledgeable and fun to work with. I had a great experience picking out the style of my tux and my groomsmen's tuxes. They had all the colors we wanted, were very affordable, and we would highly recommend them to everyone!!"

Don't they look awesome?

Groom's Calendar

Groom's Calendar

In this day and age, grooms are taking a much more active role in the planning of their weddings.  For this reason, we've created a groom's calendar to make sure that you don't forget any important details of wedding planning!

10-12 Months Before...
After your engagement, and about 10-12 months before your wedding date, you should begin to discuss wedding plans with your fiance, parents, and other responsible parties. It is important to establish a budget so you know how much you are willing to spend. At this time, you should also select who you would like to be in your wedding party, including your best man, groomsmen, and ushers.

8-9 Months Before...
After announcing your engagement to family and friends, establishing a budget, and selecting your wedding party, you should begin to prepare your guest list.  By knowing approximately how many people you will be expecting at your ceremony, you can decide on a venue for your wedding and meet with your religious or other official to discuss the ceremony.  At this time, you can also start looking into honeymoon travel plans.  Remember that tickets are usually much cheaper if purchased in advance!

6 Months Before...
While your bride is busy picking out the perfect wedding dress, it is now your responsibility to pick out the perfect tuxedos for yourself and your wedding party! About six months before your wedding date, you should visit your local DuBois Formalwear store to register your wedding party and pick out your wedding styles.  Make sure that all of your groomsmen know that they need to get fitted for their tuxedos and place their orders.  At this time, you should also begin to make transportation plans for how you and your wedding party will get to the ceremony and the reception.

3 Months Before...
Three months before your wedding date, you should have your guest list and honeymoon plans finalized.  This is also the time when you should select and order your wedding rings, choose gifts for your wedding party, and choose a gift for your lovely bride!  Additionally, you and your bride should begin to plan the rehearsal dinner.

1 Month Before...
At this time, you will need to make sure that everyone in your wedding party has been measured for their tuxedos and that those who are from out of town have returned their fitting cards.  You should also file for your marriage license one month before your wedding date!

2 Weeks Before...
Make sure that you have sent all of your new information to insurance carriers, banks, and other institutions about 2 weeks before your wedding date.

The Week Before...
Pick up your tuxedo and try everything on to ensure a proper fit!  Start packing for your honeymoon!

Your Wedding Day...
On your wedding day, double check all of the details, especially the rings and the license.  Make sure that you arrive at the ceremony on time, and enjoy your special day!
